Interview with Struan Stevenson former chairman of European Parliament Iraq delegation and President of European Iraqi Freedom Association about the presence of ISIS in Iraq and Maliki’s crimes against camp Liberty.

Anchorman:
You have described Iran as a cause of insecurity in Iraq. What do you base this assertion on?

Stevenson:
Nouri Maliki is the source of the problem. The attacks against the Sunnis in Fallujah and Ramadi resulted in formation of the Islamic State. They had asked Iran to participate in the Paris conference but we don’t think Iran can be a partner in fight against the Islamic State. The Iranian regime backed Maliki and Maliki suppressed the Iraqi Sunnis. The Quds force had staged many attacks against the Sunnis in Iraq and these attacks are the cause of the crisis in Iraq. The main issue is the Iranian influence in Iraq; before anything else we have to purge Iran from Iraq.

Anchorman:
Is the Iraqi and Syrian regime responsible for formation of the Islamic State?

Stevenson:
We shouldn’t forget that the Iranian regime supported Assad, Hamas And Hezbollah. They not only support the terrorists in Syria but in Yemen and other countries as well. To include Iran in a coalition against terrorism is a huge mistake.

Anchorman:
How do you explain the silence of the West in face of Maliki’s crimes against the Iraqi people?

Stevenson:
I said that when Haider al-Abadi formed his government he should not have appointed Maliki as Vice President. He is the cause of the problem and is the reason for the existence of the ISIS.

Anchorman:
How do you think the ISIS can be defeated? Is Iran trying to exaggerate the abilities of this organization and follows a specific agenda in Iraq?

Stevenson:
I think Haider al-Abadi will form an inclusive government. The Minister Of Interior must be a non- partisan person this can be a step against ISIS but the real problem is the Iranian regime meddling in Iraq. It is the Iranian regime that has assisted Maliki in committing atrocities. They shipped weapons to Iraq and the Army used the weapons to suppress the Sunnis. We have to reform the Army. Britain and the United States supply arms to the Pishmargeh but until the Iraqi Army is reformed they will not receive any weapons.

Anchorman:
How do you explain the silence of the West towards the blockade of MEK (PMOI) members in camp Liberty? .

Stevenson:
All Iraqi people including the Shia and Sunnis have to unite against the ISIS. If this is a unity government it can bring the people together. This government is not like its predecessor. Maliki had massacred the residents of camp Ashraf and Liberty. Maliki forces killed 116 and wounded over 1000 of the residents. We want the Abadi government to treat the residents as refugees. Nouri Maliki besieged the camp and stopped the shipments of food and medicine to the residents. Now the West will monitor how Abadi will deal with these people. Abadi must treat the MEK members as refugees and give them all necessary assistance.
